• Friday September 23rd is the spaghetti dinner and comedy night. This is going to be a great event! What a fun way to connect with other families at Faith! We still need volunteers and don’t forget to purchase your tickets ahead of time. The cost goes up if you buy them at the door.
• Our first field trip to Zittel Farms in Folsom is scheduled for Friday October 7th. We can still use a few drivers if anyone is available please let me know.
• Sunday October 16th is Oktoberfest here at Faith. Please see Cindy or Barbara in the main office for details.
• Sunday October 30th is the Harvest Festival and Sunday sing. You are invited to church and then to the festival. We need help planning this event, so if you are available please let me know ; )
• If you missed picture day then the next opportunity for a school picture is Tuesday October 18th from 9:00-11:00.

 Just a few preschool reminders:

All children should come to school in closed toe shoes. This is for safety reasons.

Hot lunch was a big hit last Friday. If you are interested in preparing hot lunch one day for the preschoolers please let me know. We are hoping that two mom’s can sign up for this at least once a month. The mom’s who volunteer are in charge of shopping, preparing and serving the meal. The kids will just love you for this!

Also please remember to pick your child up at his/her designated time. This helps the staff stay on schedule, take personal breaks and helps the children with routine. You will be charged a fee for picking up late.

 If you are wondering what we are doing in the classrooms feel free to check in with your child’s teacher. I know most children will say they didn’t do anything at school, but you and I know that is not true.

Just to give you an idea of what we have been working on in the Pre-K/Tk friendly frog class the last few weeks:

• Recognizing names
• Spelling first names using upper and lower case letters.
• Fine motor activities using tweezers, scissors, pencils, markers, colored pencils and dry erase markers.
• Talking about creation, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel.
• Discussing classroom rules
• Classroom jobs
• Journaling about feelings, what we look like and what we love about preschool
• Discussing the human body parts inside and out
• 3-5 minute yoga sessions
• On top of spaghetti song for spaghetti dinner night
• Working on patterns
• Sitting at circle for 10 minutes to listen to a story and discuss author, illustrator and story themes.

In the fish class the children are:

• Learning to sit at group time
• Reviewing the calendar, shapes weather and colors daily
• Practicing recognizing his/her name daily
• Creating pictures of himself/herself
• Talking about feelings
• Creating collages
• Music and movement activities this week’s song-If you’re happy and you know it.
• Finger-painting
• Baking cookies
• Given daily job assignments
• Learning to cooperate with others
• Attending weekly children’s chapel services (Wednesday kiddos only)
• Learning about creation

I have really appreciated all the support especially since I am in the classroom daily this year. I am blessed to be surrounded by not only a loving and energetic staff, but supportive and caring parents as well. I love this job!
